55 of 70 companies post declines
DAYTON - The Miami Valley Index saw more than three quarters of
its 70 companies post share price declines for 2002.
The year saw 24 more companies with declines than 2001, for a
total of 55.
"There were some real disasters," said Douglas Cline, senior vice
president and branch manager of Morgan Stanley's Dayton office.
"There were stocks losing 60 to 70 percent."
Morgan Stanley maintains the index, which consists of stocks of
local interest.
Cline said he expected companies to see single-digit gains, but
