Many people have indicated that they don't know what poison
hemlock looks
like so I'm going to revisit the topic of identification and
control.
Poison hemlock is growing in large numbers in virtually all parts
of Greene
County. It is about 6 to 8 feet tall with a white flower. The
purple-streaked
stalk is hollow between the nodes, where the leaves are attached.
The plant has a pungent odor and resembles Queen Anne's lace in
appearance but is much larger. It is reputed to be the source of
poison for Socrates. Since it is a biennial, it can be controlled in
the fall or spring with a weed ...
