Camp David Accord's Unfulfilled Promise; 10 Years Later, Ezer Weizman Muses About What Went Wrong

With the watershed peace treaty between Israel and Egypt nearing
its 10th anniversary, Ezer Weizman took some time out the other day
to speculate about what had gone wrong since that historic spring
day.
The peace has held, noted Weizman, who was Menachem Begin's
defense minister and a key Israeli architect of the pact. But the
dream that went with it-that the treaty would be a first step toward
an overall Middle East settlement-long ago faded.
