Television is, technically at least, 50 years old this year, and in that half-century, there've been relatively few true TV classics. "Peter Pan" is one of them, and there's no relativity about it.

One of the most endearing sentimental blockbusters ever, "Peter Pan," as staged by Jerome Robbins, was transferred intact from Broadway to television when NBC aired the musical comedy as an installment of "Producers' Showcase" on March 7, 1955. Mary Martin, as members of the first TV generation hardly need be told, starred as Peter Pan, with Cyril Ritchard as a hilariously pixilated Captain ...
