New Pioneers Chautauqua to celebrate America

McLEAN - Dave Darnall is a 21st-century businessman with a pioneer
heart.
On weekdays, he's owner of Darnall Printing in Bloomington.
On weekends, he travels back in time to become a "buckskinner," an
outdoorsman modeled after early American settlers. He wears the garb
of a frontiersman living on the late 1700s to early 1800s.
He hunts white-tail deer with a .54-caliber Hawken blackpowder
muzzleloader. He finished the wooden stock the old way, with walnut
stain he made from walnuts and beeswax. He tucks a blackpowder pistol
in his belt.
