Torrance Woman Dies of Plague Patient Succumbs To Bubonic Strain

A Torrance County woman hospitalized last week with bubonic plague died over the weekend, the state Department of Health announced Tuesday.

She was the second plague fatality in New Mexico this year.

The Department of Health is investigating the woman's home to see if there is an ongoing threat of plague to other people, according to a news release. The woman had contracted the first case of bubonic plague in the county this year.
