Public Service Company of New Mexico has been around for almost a third of Albuquerque's tricentennial history.

The First World War was raging in Europe and Woodrow Wilson was president in 1917, when Albuquerque Gas & Electric Co. evolved from an earlier merger of two existing utilities, the Albuquerque Gas, Electric Light and Power Co. and the Albuquerque Electric Power Company.
