At a recent Brazilian jiujitsu class held on the St. John's College campus, strained grunts filled the air as eight students rolled around in pairs on the gym floor. Participants broke away from the tangled embraces only to catch their breath or readjust an item of clothing. Always, the goal seemed to be to get back on the ground to continue grappling.
