* Peers' guidance convinces artist to concentrate on etching

In the long artistic and instructional life of Albuquerque's Jacob Tarazon Matteson art teachers have played key roles.

"They gave me the gift (to teach) and I passed it on," said Matteson, who retired from Cibola High School, where he taught illustration and arts and the humanities for 27 years.

And it was an etching class of another art teacher -- Regina Held - - at New Grounds Print Shop that recently changed the direction of his professional life.
