* Kids in State Fair Livestock School told to be bold in pursuit of more cash for annual auction

If you raise a better steer, groom it better and show it better, you'll have a better chance at a blue ribbon when the State Fair rolls around in September.

That is the theory that brought a couple of hundred kids and their animals (pigs, sheep, goats and dairy heifers in addition to steers) to the fairgrounds this week for Livestock School.
