OBIT - BATES, RUTH BEGLEY
|
Ruth Begley Bates, 92, of Vinton, went home to be with the Lord
on November 24, 2007. A native of Dry Hill, Kentucky, from the age
of eight she was raised in a mission boarding school and went to
Columbian Bible College and Philadelphias Womens Hospital, where she
received her registered nurse degree. After graduation, she was
married to Lewis E. Bates on June 12, 1940. Together they raised
five children and pastored McLean Baptist Church, Colonial Heights
Baptist Church and Vinton Baptist Church for 22 years. After
retiring from the Vinton Baptist Church, Mr. Bates pastored Haran
