PETERSBURG -- Tuesday night Petersburg approved on first reading
an appropriation of $1.5 million to purchase land in Prince George as
a placement site for materials dredged from the Appomattox River.
Before final approval Council will hold a public hearing Dec. 12
to receive comments from residents about the proposed expenditure.
City Manager B. David Canada said Tuesday night that the purchase
of the land is the next necessary step in the dredging process.
