Workmen's graffiti link to cathedral's 200-year-old past

Saint Hugh is famed for helping to carry the stones to rebuild
Lincoln Cathedral.
But most of the thousands of masons, carpenters, glaziers and
plumbers who worked on the magnificent building have been forgotten
by history - until now.
Restoration work at the cathedral has uncovered the names of four
craftsmen who worked there almost 200 years ago.
The historic graffiti was uncovered in the Longland Chantry roof
and gives a fascinating insight into the craftsmen of the 19th
century.
In a tradition that continues until this day, the four men had
inscribed their names in a hidden timber board ...
