The Conservative New Democracy party was within one seat of
winning a majority in Greek parliamentary elections early today, and
party leader Constantine Mitsotakis declared he will form a
government within three days to tackle the nation's pressing economic
crisis.
"Today, the Greek people have decided to give the New Democracy
party a victory," he declared as the final returns were still being
counted. "I believe we will have a governing majority."
