Built by the Army Corps of Engineers and finished in 1937, the Gen. Zebulon Pike Lock and Dam No. 11 spans 4,818 feet across the Mississippi River. Above the river from Eagle Point Park, locals and tourists have spent many summer hours watching barges and boats moving through those lock, but how many of us have wondered just who was this General Pike?
