Former Bulgarian Communist ruler Todor Zhivkov has been moved
from house arrest to a prison for persons accused of murder and other
major crimes, the chief prosecutor's office said today.
A statement carried by the official news agency BTA said Zhivkov,
78, ousted as Communist Party chief Nov. 10, was being questioned by
investigators.
He already has been charged with misappropriating state property,
inciting ethnic hostility and abuse of power.
