Loras' Gower resigns; College president: Alumnus is named interim president

Less than one year after he began as president of Loras College, Joseph Gower has resigned and school officials have named a successor.

Kevin Malone, chairman of the Loras Board of Regents, met with more than 400 faculty and staff Tuesday afternoon to announce the appointment of Loras graduate John Kerrigan to replace Gower, who resigned Monday. Kerrigan's appointment is immediate, but he is out of the country and will come to campus the first week of June.

Kerrigan is "president for the interim," in that he will serve while the regents set the groundwork, said Malone, who guessed that ...
