Huang's agenda: honor Chi Mui

SAN GABRIEL - At 30 years of age, the city's newest councilman, Albert Huang, is also the council's youngest.

But it doesn't surprise those who know him - Huang has been ahead of the curve his entire life.

"I've always been the youngest wherever I've been," Huang said.

He will be sworn in June 6 to fill the seat left by Chi Mui, 53, who died a month after becoming the city's first Asian mayor earlier this year.

Huang was voted in by council members 4-0 in May, over attorney Frank Chen, 42, and former Planning Commissioner John J. Hou, 53.
