Compton works for end to crime

COMPTON Compton city officials on Thursday unveiled a plan
combining rewards, anti-gang injunctions, nuisance abatement and
crime prevention programs they hope will curb the city's rising crime
rate.
The "Four Point CrimeStopper Plan" offers rewards of $500 or more
for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of individuals
for crimes such as homicide, assault or possession of illegal
firearms.
It also calls for abatement programs targeting drug houses and
crime prevention programs such as job training, drug counseling,
after-school programs and recreational activities.
