A tale of trouble in the early Christian church
|
Father Hippolytus was in a towering rage. Once again, he had
observed that the Roman church had fallen into gross error, and to
make matters worse, neither clergy nor people seemed to care a great
deal about the corruptions into which the Christian faith was
sinking.
Moral standards were declining, the worship of the church was
being corrupted with foolish innovations, and manmade doctrines were
being presented as the word of God. It was an intolerable situation,
and Hippolytus was determined to set matters straight, even if it
meant leading the remnant of the Christian faithful outside the ...
