Khmer Rouge Returns To Cambodian Capital, Says `Past Is History'
|
The Khmer Rouge, whose radical communist regime has been blamed
for the deaths of more than a million Cambodians, returned to this
capital today for the first time since being driven from power by
Vietnamese invasion forces in 1979.
Son Sen, former Khmer Rouge defense minister and a close
associate of ousted dictator Pol Pot, arrived at the head of a
10-member delegation to set up an office here under the terms of a
U.N.-sponsored peace accord that gives the organization a share of
power in a new coalition government.
