Four Kenner teams sweep state baseball championships

Four all-star teams. Four state champions.

In their first year competing as All-Stars in the new Cal Ripken Jr. League, four teams from Kenner won their respective age group state championships this summer. The 9- , 10- and 12-year-old squads advance to regional tournaments this weekend, while the 11-year-olds are finished since it's the first year Cal Ripken has been opened to that age group.

The Kenner 12s travel to Gulfport, Miss., for a 10-team, double- elimination tournament with opponents from Arkansas, Mississippi, Oklahoma and Texas. The regional champ advances to the Cal Ripken Jr. ...
