O'Malley acts on global warming

Maryland took two steps forward yesterday to deal with global warming, even as some critics raised concerns that the steps are too small.

Gov. Martin O'Malley signed papers for Maryland to join a regional program to reduce the greenhouse gases that cause global warming. And he created a state commission on global warming.

"This shared fight against global warming is a fight to preserve our quality of life," Mr. O'Malley said at a ceremony at Sandy Point State Park.
