LIGHTS OUT Popular Quiet Waters Park sculpture removed
|
Five years after setting sail in a grassy Quiet Waters Park field,
"Hunting Light" has been scuttled.
The artist who built the 62-foot-long, 17-foot-wide wooden vessel
recently dismantled it at the request of county officials who were
concerned about the sculpture's condition.
At least two children hurt themselves while scaling the sculpture,
according to park Superintendent Michael Murdoch.
With a living sweet gum tree as a sail, "Hunting Light" became a
prominent landmark at the park's entrance. Constructed as part of the
