As Mike Salinger sees it, "everybody's German in October."

As the owner of the Old Stein Inn in Mayo, his comment is based on the crowds of hearty food and drink lovers who come to the restaurant looking for the traditional German Oktoberfest favorites of wursts, smoked pork, hot potato salad, red cabbage and braised pork shanks smothered with caramelized onions. The main accompaniment, of course, are mugs of German pilsner, wheat beers and the dark brews.

While the Old Stein Inn is open year-round, it seems that every fall it's rediscovered as one of the few places in Anne Arundel County ...
