The perennial verbena truly has come of age in the landscape during the last decade. Standards like the Homestead Purple and Biloxi Blue and have been recognized for their outstanding performance.

To me the Tapien verbenas still rank up there with these and offer equally impressive toughness and beauty. Tapien verbenas were hybridized in Japan by the same breeders that brought us the Surfinia petunias.

Despite the influx of new series like the Temari, Aztec, Babylon and Magellana, the Tapien have held their place in the market. The series, which started out with four now boasts 10 colors.
