Dining: Fine fare shows why Chart House a tough ticket

It took us two tries to get into the Chart House. The first time, we asked for reservations early on a Saturday evening. Not even a skinny chance, but we got a dulcet-toned sales pitch about how they always save some tables for walk-ins. We bought into it and hit the reception desk a little before 7 p.m., only to find ourselves in the middle of a mob scene with more than a two-hour wait for a table.

Not surprisingly, we enjoyed a fine meal elsewhere - as walk-ins, by the way.

Wising up, we next tried for a weekday night and had no trouble at all, even ending up with a pleasant window table. ...
