John Robinson Leopold officially became the seventh county executive in Anne Arundel County history on Monday morning after taking the oath of office in Annapolis.

Mr. Leopold was sworn in by Clerk of the Court Robert P. Duckworth in the County Council chambers in Annapolis. Afterward, he thanked the residents of District 31, which he represented in House of Delegates for 20 years.

He also praised his emerging staff, describing it has a mix of experience and new blood.

"It's a good combination to help me fulfill my vision, which is to help people every day and improve their lives," he said.
