Radium reduction plan nets no takers
|
Two years after the state approved a program to help residents
reduce radium levels in their drinking water, not a single person has
applied.
"To date no check has been cut," said Del. John R. Leopold, R-
Pasadena, the sponsor of the bill making credits available for
households earning less than $80,000. "As I've often said, we do a
good job about getting these bills passed but not as good a job
letting people know we got a bill passed."
The state program repays up to 25 percent of the cost of
installing a filtration system. Such systems can cost upwards of $700
