Gov. Richard Snelling Of Vermont Dies at 64;Was Serving 5th Term

Richard Snelling, 64, the governor of Vermont who returned to office in January for a fifth term with a mission of getting the state's finances in order, died Aug. 14 at his home in Shelburne, Vt., about 30 miles west of the state capital in Montpelier.

His body, clad in a swimsuit, was discovered about 8 a.m. next to the pool at his residence by a state police driver who had arrived to pick him up, said his press secretary, Glenn Gershaneck. An autopsy was scheduled to determine the cause of death.
