Protestant clerics get Maynooth honour
|
THREE leading Protestant clerics have made history by accepting
and receiving honorary degrees from the Irish Catholic University at
Maynooth.
This is seen in Irish church circles north and south as a
recognition by the Catholic Church of the ecumenical contribution of
leading Protestant clergy of the three main denominations, and
underlines the significant development in ecumenical relations
between the Catholic and Protestant churches.
At a unique and historic ceremony in the chapel at St Patrick's
College, Maynooth, honorary degrees were conferred last night upon
