Tagliabue Says Ismail's Defection Won't Hurt League
|
NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue today reacted coolly to the
defection of college football's most exciting player, former Notre
Dame wide receiver-kick return specialist Rocket Ismail, to the
Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League.
Tagliabue downplayed the effect of the loss of Ismail, who
probably would have been the top pick in today's NFL draft. But the
loss of such a talented player can't be anything but painful to the
league.
However, Tagliabue said, "I don't think it will have much of an
impact on the league."
