Joint or Parallel? American and European Approaches Toward the Greater Middle East
|
The flurry of international summit activity in June 2004 produced
several harmonious joint statements regarding the world's perceived
number one hot-spot, the Middle East. From the G-8 meeting at Sea
Island (8-10 June) to the US-EU summit in Ireland (25-26 June) to the
gathering of NATO heads of government in Istanbul (28-29 June), there
seemed sudden unanimity in the West regarding the need for joint
action.
