Bob Dylan's `Bootleg': 30 Years of the Voice of the '60s

On the eve of his 5Oth birthday, Bob Dylan has ignored his own advice and decided to look back. He's given his blessings to "The Bootleg Series Vols. 1-3 (Rare and Unreleased) 1961-1991," a three-CD box set commemorating his 30th anniversary of signing with Columbia Records.

The 58-song anthology, also available on records and cassettes, is being trumpeted by Columbia as "The Greatest Music You've Never Heard." Yet for a lot of Dylan fans, including British Dylanologist John Bauldie, the author of the album's detailed 72-page booklet and discography, much of this music has been essential ...
