ANTIQUITIES DEPT. OFFICIALS TO SET UP PATROLS TO PROTECT UM QAIS ARTIFACTS

According to "Jordan Times", antiquities department officials are
intensifying efforts to protect artifacts in the northern town of Um
Qais, or Gadara, one of the cities of the Decapolis. Irbid
antiquities inspector Wajih Karasneh said the area, like other
antiquities-rich locations in the Kingdom, has been the target of
thieves and looters. These incidents prompted the Antiquities
Department in the governorate to coordinate with police and other
official agencies to formulate a plan involving regular patrols of
