The leaders of a range of political parties and public organizations in Ulyanovsk Oblast have sent an appeal to President Putin asking him to introduce direct presidential rule in the oblast, VolgaInform reported on 17 August. Among the signatories were the Communist Party, Yabloko, the Party of Life, the Green Party, and an association of veterans and a federation of trade unions.
