Vie de France Corp., the McLean-based food and restaurant business that made its name baking French croissants and baguettes for Americans, announced plans yesterday to sell its bakery division to a Japanese company for more than $40 million.

Vie de France said it has entered into a preliminary agreement to sell its wholesale bakery division to Yamazaki Baking Company Ltd. of Tokyo, which will continue to produce baked goods under the Vie de France name. The Japanese food company wi...
