TAKING up the offer to play a sex worker is an act not many glamorous Bollywood actresses will do.

At one time it would have been either a Smita Patil or a Shabana Azmi or today a Tabu or a Nandita Das who would would dare go for such roles.

But when young actresses like Kareena Kapoor decided to move away from the glamour and settle for a role like that in Chameli, playing a hooker, it certainly raised many an eyebrow.

To Kareena, the offer to do a film like Chameli is invaluable and she has no fear of being ostracised by Bollywood film-makers for moving away from mainstream films.
