Some prefer life imprisonment

THE death sentence may not be the most `satisfying' punishment for those who rape children, some people feel.

Life imprisonment could be the better way to punish the rapists, according to some members of the public interviewed by The Malay Mail yesterday.

They feel that child rapists should be made to suffer, slowly, for their heinous acts.

It is reported today that the Cabinet is expected to accept the proposal calling for the death penalty for child rapists.

The proposal is to be tabled by Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim on Nov 26.
