No Surrender at Brandy Station

On Sept. 14, the U.S. Department of the Interior announced that
the historic designation of the Brandy Station battlefield was being
withdrawn, reversing the department's own findings of historic
significance, which were based on three years of professional work.
One person, Wyoming Sen. Malcolm Wallop (R) - without any
public review, without even a public acknowledgment by his office -
in a single blow undid years of careful documentation that had
resulted in a determination that the Brandy Station battlefield
qualified as a Virginia State Landmark and was eligible for listing
