Towneley complete rise to top

Consett Sunday League STANLEY Towneley Arms have re-written the history books by clinching the First Division title in their amazing rise through the divisional ranks.

Three years ago they ended, as Division Three runners-up at the first attempt, never dropped a point last season in racing to the Division Two crown and are now the champions of Division One.

And, in doing so, they have become the first Stanley side to win the top flight.

The Towneley Arms knew they only had to avoid defeat against closest rivals Stateside and the title was theirs.

And, they did just that when recording a 2-1 ...
