Errors in Genetic Tests

A newborn is tested for sickle cell anemia at a New York City hospital. Her mother, a physician, is told the baby carries the sickle cell gene but does not have the disease, an inherited disorder of red blood cells that can cause chronic illness and death. A year later, the baby is retested. This time, her parents are told she has sickle cell anemia.
