IT has been hailed as England's national epic.
Written by an anonymous author circa 700 AD, Beowulf is a 3183-
line poem that remains the centre of attention of scholars for being
one of the earliest works of British literature. It is the only
surviving work in Old English, otherwise known as Anglo-Saxon.
Beowulf also went on to inspire J.R.R Tolkien, the mastermind
behind The Lord of the Rings trilogy.
