Health department officials say they're willing to move

Kanawha-Charleston Health Department officials said they are open to moving from their current location on Lee Street so city and county officials can work to build a new upscale hotel downtown.

But department administrators said during a county commission meeting Tuesday they want officials to give them a timeline for the move and a list of potential new locations.

City and county officials have targeted the health department, located at 108 Lee Street, as a prime spot for a new hotel due to its location across the street from the Charleston Civic Center.
