Political art sale has some famous faces
|
Lord Stratford, better known to most as the Labour MP Tony Banks,
died in January last year and although he was famous for his
outspoken views, what is not as well known was his passion for
collecting art. He was also chairman of the House of Commons Works of
Art Committee in 2001, having served on the committee for ten or so
years, and was a vocal and enthusiastic leader - but never quite
achieved his ambition of forming a national museum of parliamentary
history.
That may yet come, but now his own fine collection of political
art and memorabilia will come under offer in London on Thursday ...
