300 hopefuls on form for climax of Europe's top surfing challenge

It has been heralded as Europe's biggest surf championships.

High calibre surfers have taken to the waves in The Headworx English National Surfing Championships at Newquay's Watergate Bay.

More than 300 surfers are taking part in one of the high-points of the surfing calendar over the holiday weekend.

Watergate Bay lends the event a beautiful three mile long beach with multiple surf peaks.

The three-day competition, now in its 35th year, finishes today when all the winners will be announced and the prizes handed out.
