Two northern politicians have accepted a challenge from environmentalists to reduce the amount of energy they use at home over the next 12 months.

Mary Scanlon and Rob Gibson are among five MSPs out to make their homes as climate friendly as possible.

Their goal is to reduce by as much as possible the amount of the main greenhouse gas, carbon dioxide, they produce from energy used in their homes.

This will involve measures to make their homes as energy efficient as possible, such as installing loft insulation or low-energy light bulbs, or perhaps installing a solar panel for electricity or hot ...
