Surprise withdrawal for contest at Nairn

Fortrose and Rosemarkie Golf Club, winners of the Northern Counties Cup at Royal Aberdeen last September, are a surprise omission from the draw for the senior version of the competition which gets under way at Nairn Dunbar on Wednesday.

The host club provide two of the 24 teams aiming to deny Brora a third win in the B. D. Fraser Cup.

Brora's first-choice four have remained the same for the past four years - Jim Miller, Ronnie Sim, Robin Wilson and Ian Hamilton. They receive a bye into the second round as holders.
