Climbers help breathe life into medical study

A Deeside climber will set off on an expedition to the world's highest mountain next month as part of a medical study into the effects of oxygen deprivation on the body.

Colin Champion from Banchory is one of 200 volunteers taking part in the Mount Everest project led by scientists from the University College London.

The 59-year-old father-of-two is an experienced mountain climber and has travelled to the Himalayas, Pyrenees and the Alps on several occasions.
