Gen. Brooke Allen Dies; Headed Washington Air Force Command

Retired Maj. Gen. Brooke Empie Allen, 81, a former head of the Air Force Headquarters Command in Washington and a highly decorated veteran of World War II, died May 30 at a hospital in Naples, Fla., after a stroke.

A former Potomac resident, he lived in the Washington area from 1959 until moving to Marco Island, Fla., last year.

Gen. Allen was stationed at Bolling Air Force Base as head of the Washington Headquarters Command from 1959 until retiring from active duty in 1965. The command is equivalent to the Army's Military District of Washington.
